Prof. Hani Almoallim, is a full professor in the Department of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at Umm Alqura University (UQUMed). He is an internist by training, rheumatologist and medical educationalist. He has obtained the Canadian and the American Boards in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He has additional training in medical education in University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada. He has also obtained a diploma in medical education from University of Dundee.

He is currently the head of the higher curriculum committee in UQUMed since 2012 and acts as the college representative in the international collaboration with University College of London (UCL) in curriculum design and development. He is leading a major curriculum reform process in the undergraduate curriculum in UQUMed. He used to be the Vice Dean of the college for 6 years from 2012 – 2018.

He has participated in establishing and monitoring several postgraduate training programs in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in the region.

He is currently the supervisor of Alzaidi Chair of Research in Rheumatic Diseases at UQU for the last 8 years. This chair has a distinguished achievements list that have made it one of the best in the region.

He has published two books in Rheumatology. “Systemic Lupus Erythematosus” by InTech publisher group and “Skills in Rheumatology” by Elsevier.

He has been invited as a speaker to several national and international conferences. He has designed a training course in Rheumatology for junior staff called “Rheumatology Practice Symposium” (RPS) that was conducted in 4 different countries so far. He has over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
