Prof. Muhamed Zulficar Mughal graduated in medicine from the University of Liverpool, UK, in 1978. He received postgraduate training in Pediatrics at hospitals in Manchester, Liverpool, in the UK and in Cincinnati, USA.

He was appointed a Consultant Pediatrician in 1988. He is currently employed as a Consultant in Pediatric Bone Disorders at Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital, Dubai, UAE.

He has extensive experience in the management of childhood bone & mineral disorders and has published >180 peer-reviewed scientific papers, invited reviews and book chapters.

Prof. Mughal was awarded the Charles Slemenda Award at the 7th International Conference on Children’s Bone Health in Salzburg, Austria in June 2015 in recognition of his contribution to Pediatric Bone Research. In June 2021, Prof. Mughal was awarded the Dent award by the Bone Research Society, UK.
